'El sueño de los pibes': 'Fox' pagará 50.000 dólares por ver el Mundial

Fox, the network holding the U.S. broadcasting rights for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, is hiring a national “chief observer” to watch all 104 matches of the tournament. The lucky fan will receive $50,000 (€42,500) in exchange for their dedication, which breaks down to about $1,282 per day or $480 per game.

The 2026 World Cup, hosted by Mexico, Canada, and the United States, kicks off on Thursday, June 11. Over the course of more than a month, football fans worldwide will enjoy the biggest edition of the sport’s most important competition. Many passionate fans will try to watch every match, often for free and even skipping work despite the consequences. But one American fan will have the opportunity to do so as a paid employee of Fox.

What does the job entail? Fox, in partnership with Fox One and the job-search platform Indeed, is looking for an enthusiast willing to watch all 104 World Cup matches from a luxury box located in Times Square, one of the most iconic spots in Manhattan, New York City.

“This FIFA World Cup will be a historic tournament that requires an equally historic hiring. A committed candidate will land the job of a lifetime to live and celebrate every story, every nation, and every thrilling moment that defines the beautiful game,” the network stated.

The role is officially titled “Chief Viewing Officer,” and the selected individual will be tasked with experiencing and documenting the entire tournament, sharing their passion with fans across the country. Application details and requirements are expected to be released soon by Fox and Indeed.
