The 29-year-old Canadian forward, Brandon Clarke, who played for the Memphis Grizzlies of the National Basketball Association (NBA), is believed to have passed away from a drug overdose, according to a report from TMZ.
“A possible cause of death for Brandon Clarke is an overdose. Law enforcement officials discovered drug paraphernalia at the house where the Grizzlies player’s body was found on Monday,” the report states.
Emergency services in Los Angeles reportedly responded to a call for medical assistance around 5 p.m. local time on Monday. When paramedics arrived, Clarke was pronounced dead, according to NBC4. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause and circumstances of his death.
Clarke, known for his energy and rebounding, had a standout rookie season with the Grizzlies, setting a unique record among first-year players. The basketball community is mourning the loss of the talented forward.
