Christian Lundgaard Clinches Second Career Victory at INDYCAR Sonsio Grand Prix

The 2026 NTT INDYCAR Series gained a new winner on Saturday at the Sonsio Grand Prix, contested on the 2.439-mile, 14-turn road course at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Christian Lundgaard, who had previously earned only one INDYCAR victory, doubled his win total by taking the checkered flag. “I really didn’t expect this today, but I hoped for it,” Lundgaard said in his post-race interview. “This was a long wait for this win.”

Defending series champion and current points leader Alex Palou, who had won three of the first five races this season, started from the pole but finished fifth.

Lundgaard set his sights on race leader David Malukas and timed his overtaking move perfectly, executing the pass with 18 laps remaining. The driver of the No. 7 Arrow McLaren car never relinquished the lead from that point.

The race saw an early dramatic moment as a multi-car crash on the first lap quickly reshuffled the field.
