The 2026 WWS World Women’s Snooker Championship will take place from May 12 to 19 at the Changping Snooker Arena in Dongguan, with concurrent U21 and Senior tournaments. The event brings together 77 top female players from 10 countries and regions, setting a new participation record. Stars like Bai Yulu, Ng On-yee, and Nutcharut Wongharuthai will compete in Changping.
Bai Yulu, the world No.1 who has won the past two editions of the championship in Changping, stated her ambition to secure a three-peat. “Dongguan is my second home and the base where my dream took off,” Bai said during a press conference on May 8. “Playing at home brings pressure, but it also gives me extra confidence and motivation. I’m training hard and feeling good—the goal is three consecutive titles.”
The newly built Changping Snooker Arena, covering 12,500 square meters, features eight professional tables, high-definition broadcast equipment, and over 1,000 seats. It is Dongguan’s first dedicated snooker venue. According to Li Zhongwen, the town’s deputy secretary, the venue will later offer free and low-cost access to the public.
Ticket prices are set at 29 RMB per day for regular sessions (May 12–18), 58 RMB or 88 RMB for the final day (May 19), and 199 RMB for an eight-day pass.
Jiang Guan, deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Billiards Association, praised Dongguan’s snooker legacy, calling it the “cradle of snooker champions” for producing players like Ding Junhui and Bai Yulu. Mandy Fisher, president of the World Women’s Snooker Association, noted that the event’s quality has improved year by year, describing Changping’s organization as a model for international tournaments. The WWS has awarded Changping the right to host the championship for the next five years, with a priority option for an additional ten years.
Dongguan has established a comprehensive talent development pipeline, from grassroots selection to professional training, with events like the “Snooker Village League” in Changping’s 32 villages, hosting over 1,000 community matches annually.
