Sergio Ramos, alongside a group of investors, is set to acquire FC Sevilla.

According to reports from Spanish media, the former Spanish international defender and the investment fund Five Eleven Capital have reached an agreement with the current shareholders of the Andalusian club. The transaction is valued at €450 million and was finalized during a recent meeting between the parties involved. The daily newspaper AS has confirmed the news, adding that two crucial steps remain before the deal becomes official: approval from the Spanish Superior Sports Council (CSD) and the signing of all related contracts.

Ramos’ exact role within the new management structure has not yet been determined, but the presidency of the club is one of the possibilities being discussed. At 40 years old, the defender, who came through Sevilla’s youth academy, would be returning to his boyhood club, which he left in 2005 to join Real Madrid. He later returned to Andalusia for the 2023-2024 season.

This ownership change comes at a challenging time for FC Sevilla, who are struggling in La Liga. Their results have not matched their historic status, especially given that they have won seven Europa League titles over the past two decades. Details regarding the governance structure and the sporting strategy of the future project have yet to be disclosed. An official announcement is expected in the coming weeks.
